Here’s the honest answer, not a hedge: a battery is the better fit for short, frequent outages, which is the pattern most of our customers actually experience in the Puget Sound area. It’s silent, requires no fuel runs, and can recharge daily from solar if you have it. A generator is the better fit for extended, multi-day outages without solar to recharge a battery, since it can run indefinitely as long as fuel keeps coming.

- Choose a generator if you regularly lose power for multiple days and want unlimited runtime
- Choose both if you want daily silent backup plus a fallback for the rare extended outage
